Ella has a natural gift for communication. Her love of reading, writing and public speaking helps her explain complicated legal concepts to her clients in a manner that is understandable and practical. A personable and trusted advisor, she brings considerable expertise to our corporate and banking practices, specializing in representing lenders.
Before joining Underberg & Kessler, Ella was General Counsel for Farm Credit East, a $6 billion lender to the agricultural industry with a seven-state territory. In this role, she provided legal direction for interpreting and revising commercial and consumer loan documents, ensured compliance with federal and state-specific laws and regulations, and reviewed and negotiated all manner of contracts, agreements and leases. Ella also counseled the senior management team on a wide variety of matters, including corporate governance, regulatory matters, mergers and risk management. She also worked as an in-house attorney for the U.S. Small Business Administration, where she provided legal advice regarding all aspects of loan administration, loan liquidation and compliance with SBA rules and regulations.
Over the years, Ella has cultivated a practical approach to the law that helps clients minimize their legal problems and realize their goals for business success. She also helps people with divergent views reach consensus—an essential skill for negotiating complex banking and corporate issues.
PROFESSIONAL AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Ella is a member of the Board of Directors of the Monroe County Industrial Development Corporation. She is also a member of the Monroe County and New York State Bar Associations, and has been a lecturer at Erie and Monroe County Bar seminars, as well as Farm Credit System conferences.
