U.S. Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter once said, “Litigation is the pursuit of practical ends, not a game of chess.” Similarly, Ed believes that while commercial litigation is often complex, the objective is simple: to create favorable outcomes for his clients as quickly and cost-effectively as possible.

To achieve success directly and expeditiously in the complex arena of business litigation is no small feat. Ed calls on his vast legal knowledge, his experience in working with all types of commercial situations and his keen negotiating skills. Whether resolving a business dispute, prosecuting or defending a breach of warranty case, working out a problem commercial loan for a bank or settling a malpractice suit, Ed takes pride in his creative negotiation of settlements. His approach not only achieves the desired result, it helps reduce the cost of litigation. And when an intractable opponent makes settlement impossible, Ed has succeeded in obtaining the desired results for his clients from the Court.

Ed has extensive experience in both state and federal courts, representing corporate and business clients, public entities and individuals in complex commercial litigation. This includes a variety of business disputes, such as construction and contract litigation, accounting malpractice, bankruptcy fraud, corporate dissolution litigation, non-competition agreement disputes, false advertising suits, unfair competition litigation and other civil litigation matters. His experience also includes cases involving intellectual property, product liability and personal injury.

Ed has successfully represented a surety in a U.S. Bankruptcy Court trial after which the Court denied a bankruptcy discharge due to the debtor’s fraudulent concealment of assets. He has also represented banks and provided loan workout services in connection with large commercial loans, and negotiated and drafted construction contracts and liquidating agreements.

Professional and Community Involvement

Ed is on the Board of Trustees of the Legal Defense Fund for the New York State Builders Association, and is a member of the WNED Community Advisory Board. He is also a member of the New York State and Erie County Bar Associations.

Awards and Recognitions

Ed was selected a 2011 and 2012 Upstate New York Super Lawyer. The Super Lawyer group represents the top 5% of attorneys in Upstate New York who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.
