Paul’s effectiveness as a litigator is due to his depth of legal understanding and his determination to get clients the right result. As a partner in our Litigation and Municipal Practice Groups, and chair of the firm's Labor & Employment Practice Group, Paul represents a wide variety of businesses, individuals, and organizations. From untangling complex commercial litigation, to resolving tax assessment and other municipal matters, to handling employment, construction, insurance defense and personal injury cases—Paul has a wealth of litigation experience in both the State and Federal Courts.

One of Paul’s core areas is employment, where he provides astute and practical advice to clients in matters involving executive compensation, overtime, workplace violence, non-compete/non-solicit agreements, sexual harassment, race, sex, and age discrimination, family and medical leave and disabilities.

A 1993 cum laude graduate of Fordham University School of Law, Paul was Associate Editor of the Fordham Law Review and admitted to the Order of the Coif, an honorary law society. He was honored as an "Up and Coming Attorney" by The Daily Record, and received the Rochester Business Journal's "Forty Under 40" Award. Paul was also selected a 2010, 2009, 2008 and 2007 Upstate New York Super Lawyer by Law & Politics. The Super Lawyer group represents the top 5% of attorneys in Upstate New York who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.

Paul currently serves on the Labor & Employment and Tax Assessment Committees of the Monroe County Bar Association and is a member of the New York State and American Bar Associations. He is a regular lecturer for the Council on Education in Management, the Society of Human Resource Management and Lorman Education Services. He also is active in the community, serving on the Board of Directors of Wilson Commencement Park, Career Development Services, and the Tennis Club of Rochester, as well as coaching his four sons in youth sports.

Paul was selected a 2010 Upstate New York Super Lawyer by Law & Politics. The Super Lawyer group represents the top 5% of attorneys in Upstate New York who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.

Prior to joining Underberg and Kessler, Paul worked for the international law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP based in New York City, and served as a federal district court law clerk in Illinois. He graduated from Amherst College with a B.A. in Economics and English in 1989.
